The Last Lecture

I just finished this book yesterday. It is about a boy who was sexually abused by his parents. A friend had passed it on to me. I do not recommend it. I know that it is an ill of society that all of us should be aware of however, I don't think that we need to read about it in a novel. Although the abuse was not descriptive, it still disturbed me. As soon as I finished the book I began "The Last Lecture".

My girlfriend Cheryl, loaned me this book. I read it last night and was moved by the author's outlook on life. I highly recommend reading it. At the risk of sounding corny, I feel this book had a profound affect on my attitude. I made a deal with Patrick that if he read this book in one week I would give him $20. He tried to bargain with the time period of two weeks but I told him no deal because I really want him to complete it. I think this book would make a great gift.
Now I am going to start the book, "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle". It has been on the NY Times Bestseller List lately and is an Oprah book. After the last Oprah book I read I swore I would never read another one of her promoted books again but the jacket cover grabbed me. It will be a while before I can let you know how I liked it because it is a long story.

Didn't sound corny at all to me. I felt the same way about the book.

i agree, I don't enjoy reading books about kids suffering especially. I have the Edgar Sawtelle book but have never started it, it looks too big.
